Architecture Photography

Architecture Photography is a mostly documentary part of photography dealing with the imaging of buildings.

Topic

Buildings offer many varying motifs to the photographer. What makes architecture photography interesting is the fact that architectural styles differ from country to country. Familiar buildings in our hometown can look so different abroad.

Another point is that buildings are static, so they provide an opportunity to take pictures at day- and nighttime.

Comments / Tips / Experiences

With the increasing height of buildings, a well-known problem arises: perspective distortion (also known as **keystoning**). There are three actual ways for solving this problem:

  1. Buy a (very expensive) special tilt-shift lens, which balances the distortion.
  2. Take photos from a longer distance using a telephoto lens.
  3. Post-process your picture to correct the distortion.
