The Lightroom Modules
Lightroom contains five different modules, and each module allows you to perform certain pieces of the workflow, from import, through sort and adjustment (development), to final output.
Topic
The five Lightroom Modules can be reached using the Module Picker, which is located at the right of the top panel. As you enter each Lightroom Module, the side panels and menu items change to reveal the tools you are most likely to use in each module. However, the top panel (Module Picker) and the bottom panel (Filmstrip) remain consistent through all five modules.
The modules available are:
Library - where the sorting, picking, and rating of shots takes place. There are also a large set of development activities that can be done in this module.
Develop - where the hardcore development processes take place. In addition to more detailed versions of the development activities in the Library Module, Lightroom 2.0 allows you to do localized changes to a shot. Previously, you could only do global changes.
Slideshow - Not to be confused with a simple slideshow of your available shots, which can be reached from any module, this module lets you create fully fleshed out slideshows that can be saved and sent to others, complete with copyright information, borders of your own making, and the ability to add music and timing to the display of the shots.
Print - just what is sound like, but also allows you to create print packages, which allow you to put multiple shots on a page, saving paper and adding a more professional package look to what you print out.
Web - From this module, you can create photographic web pages, as well as complete sites. Like the other two output modules (Slideshow and Print) you can also save your favorite designs as presets for future use.
