Firmware

Definition

The firmware is a piece of software embedded within the camera system. It is responsible for every single thing done with the camera (buttons pressed, display changes and so on). Without the firmware, a digital-camera does not work anymore.

The firmware in the camera is comparable to the BIOS in a computer, for example.
