Center Weighted Metering

Definition

There are a number of different methods which can be applied by the camera when determining the exposure settings for taking a picture.

Center Weighted Metering is where the exposure is averaged over the entire scene with emphasis placed on the center area. Typically 75% on the center of the image and about 25% to the outside.
