Brightness

Definition

One of the three primary characteristics of a pixel, along with hue and saturation.

In painter’s terms, the Brightness of a color is equivalent to its tint, as opposed to saturation, which is what a painter would call making a “shade” of a color.

In post-processing, or Photoshop, terms, the brightness of a color is a representation of the amount of white that is being mixed in with a given hue and saturation.
