Archival Properties

Definition

The characteristics of a type of paper and ink or ink combinations that allow for the printed image to survive for extended periods of time without degradation of the print due to environmental elements.

Comments / Tips / Experiences

Using Archival Inks and Archival paper does not excuse the artist from taking all other necessary precautions to maintain the image, such as matting, framing, avoiding exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods, etc..
