aperture priority

Definition

Aperture priority is a setting available for most cameras that lets you select a fixed aperture and adjusts the shutter speed automatically.

This function can be used to yield maximum depth of field for landscape photography, or can be used for shallow depth of field in portrait or macro photography to focus attention on the main subject and not distracting details of the background. It allows the photographer to determine how much of the image is in sharp focus and what the eye of the viewer will concentrate their attention on.
