Accessory Shoe

Definition

Also called a “hot shoe”. This is the bracket, usually on top of a DSLR where you would attach a flash unit.

Comments / Tips / Experiences

  • You can also extend the flash movement range off camera by using a connector cable between the accessory shoe and the flash unti. This allow you to bounce the flash light from somewhere other than the top of the camera, which reduces the effect of red_eye.
  • You can also attach a remote triggering device to the hot shoe, allowing you to fire studio flash units without having to be physically connected to them.
