Chris, it really is us who should be thanking you buddy. It's nice to have a new podcast magically pop up in itunes every few days and it's easy to not think about how much work goes into making each podcast and being consistent with it. Your frequency and consistency, as well as the good information is what keeps me hooked. I know I'm not the only one, so for me, I'm not surprised that you are getting this much support. My donation will be there soon... Lee's helping me out!

Update Tuesday, Jul/04:

This has given me the confidence to get moving, so this morning I went to our local geek paradise (Saturn) to buy a new laptop, and a new Canon EOS 5D.

Chris!!!

PLEASE tell me you didn't use my part of the donation to buy one of those Canon things! Please tell me that the money I donated when toward the laptop. Wink

Quick thought - Can you claim the cashback twice?
Probably not. I think you're limited to one cashback per customer for bodys or lenses (And I'm not allowed ANY. This means my 17-40 cost me more than it would cost you Sad Stupid shop.)

I couldn't agree more.
I know that the podcast, forums and info library have made me a better photographer than I would have been without them.
The "Photoshop Corner" episodes are priceless, I learn something new and useful with each one. I'd like to think my composition ability has improved as well, which has a lot to do with the podcasts.
I find that the show inspires me to get out and go shooting, it's the kick in the butt that I need. (And it makes going outdoors in the very cold winter a bit easier.)

So...my donation...is the money that I would've paid to subscribe to this podcast, get access to the forum and take some lessons in Photoshop.
The really great thing is that all of the above were offered freely.

Hi Chris

Glad to see that the fund is growing. I haven't managed to get my donation in yet. When I filled in my credit card details, and submitted, the Paypal server told me that my card is already linked to a Paypal account and I should log in using that account.

Hope your new gear has raised your spirits. NB - Get it insured ASAP.

Am trying to find my old Paypal login details - I only ever used it once for an ebay purchase. When I find it I will be adding to the fund.

Cheers
Rick

When I opened my PayPal account this morning, I though I was still dreaming. You have donated over 700 Euros so far. I'm speechless and deeply moved, I don't know what to say. I would have never expected such a surge of help coming my way..

Just a small token for all the help you have given us over the last year, thanks for the podcast Chris!

Yep, use part of the money to get the insurance, not just buy the gear!

I thought about that, but a) the cashback ended on Jun/30 here, so @#$ timing, and b) it's only one per customer per article ... so bad luck, re-buying the cam is therefore actually 300 euros more expensive for me than the new one *sigh*

Hey Chris, very sorry to hear about this Sad
I listened to the podcast, from last week, earlier today after Italy kicked Germany's but Wink and felt compelled to come on to the forum and show my appreciation for all your hard work and some great tips since I have been listening for the last 70 shows or so. Sorry i don't have time to read the whole thread, but i read something about switching to a mac on the first page. No better time t switch than now, I hope the money I sent goes towards that if you didn't get a windows machine already. Smile

Just a thought (if it wasn't already mentioned), credit cards will often cover purchases stolen within a certain time frame. So if you bought the 5D with your credit card it may be something worth looking into.

Best of luck getting your stuff back.

-Mike

Hi Chris,
I'm very happy to hear the beanbag isn't gone, that just shows that it was none of your listeners. Smile Recently I've read that burglars check blogs to see if people are on vacations. Strange idea, but if the burglar had used your shows for inspiration, the beanbag would be gone. Wink

Just a financing idea: a big bean-bag sale? Smile
