US Workshop Tour - kicking it up a notch

Workshop Agenda - DRAFTIn case you wondered, we are in full swing planning the fall US workshop tour! Here’s a quick draft of the workshop agenda.

The four locations should be settled on pretty soon (looks like CA, CO, MN, FL right now), the dates are being finalized (Sep/22 - Oct/21) and I will be ramping up quite a bit on the communications around the workshops over the next shows. Note: all these dates and locations are still in draft and subject to change.

If you have inputs, change requests, please leave a comment here on the blog, this your chance to influence things!

Welcome to Tips from the Top Floor

Hello and welcome to the Tips from the Top Floor podcast. Hopefully you’ve stumbled on this website because you just got a brand new digital camera for Christmas and are looking for some help. You’ve come to the right place!

Tips from the Top Floor (TFTTF) is a podcast covering every aspect of digital photography from the camera to the final prints on your wall. It doesn’t matter if you are using a simple point and shoot camera, cutting edge DSLR, are new to photography, or have spent years behind the lens Tips from the Top Floor has something you’ll enjoy. If you want to improve your photography, this is the podcast to listen to.

If you are new to photography or you just got a new camera, here is a short list of some of the shows you might want to listen to. These shows will help get you started on your photographic journey.

01 - Instant feedback/the perfect crop: The very first TFTTF show! Provides a quick primer on the value of that LCD on the back of your new digital camera.

14 - Fast Action: A number of tips and tricks to help you take photos of fast moving subjects.

18 - Portrait photography: A primer of the vital aspects necessary for great portrait photos.

20 – Assignments: Find out how assignments can pump up your creative juices.

30 - The right moment: Tips to help you catch that perfect moment.

37 – Histogram: The histogram feature can be confusing at first, but this show lays it all out for you.

43 - Shooting modes: “Guest” host Scott Fletcher explains what the various shooting modes mean and when to use them.

44 - Aperture/DOF: Chris explains the relationship between aperture and depth of field.

63 - Move in: Sometimes you don’t need to get everything in the picture, why not just step in and get the details.

103 - Composition primer: Ten tips to improve your compositions.

Another great way to improve your photography is to ask questions and share your work with other photographers. Visit the TFTTF Forums, sign up, and start sharing your work with others. The forum members are always helpful and can answer nearly any photography question you can come up with.

Our host, Christoph Marquardt, is currently on a holiday break, so there will not be any new shows until the first week of January, 2007.

PodcastAward 2006!

Thank you all for making this possible!

Who is the ExpoCaster?

Sorry, this is in German only, so maybe it’s finally time to learn a new language?! :)

It’s a short Promo for the ExpoCaster project where I will bring daily video, audio and picture reports from the PodcastExpo to the German podcast audience. I’m the only German podcaster who has won the award this year, and I’m the only German podcaster ever to actually go and pick it up in person. As this wouldn’t be a fit for the TFTTF feed, a large German newspaper has agreed to write about it and host a special one-off podcast around it. Yey! Publicity!

I’ll try to get interviews with some of the famous podcasters (say Dawn & Drew, Leo Laporte, Rob Walch, Scott Fletcher, …)

Oh.. and *some* of the content will definitely be in English, so it’s still worth signing up!!
