It was interesting to see Jon explain his “dance” technique, as I had started noticing this in his podcast. Usually I compose a shot and then keep it as steady as possible, for fear of a YouTube-like firehosing effect. But I guess Jon’s approach works because the camera is revolving around the subjects instead of panning from one subject to another, which would make the camera the center point around which everything revolves. It also gives the viewer a chance to see a bit more of the surroundings and form a 3D picture of the situation in his head. Thanks for sharing, will have to give this a try!
