Thanks for the tripod tips. I’ve been looking into a gorillapod or something less “bulky” than a traditional tripod. Up to today, I’ve been using Joe McNally’s breathing techniques to reduce camera shake without a tripod - but the poor man’s tripod sounds like a great idea!
I tried the triangle string tripod tip and it works great!
The bolt that fits the bottom of the camera is 1/4 inch course thread.
Thanks again, Great Idea!
I just discovered the podcast and will be a regular listener from now on.
Further suggestions about materials. Use curtain cord, as it is tough and doesn’t stretch as much as cheaper string, which can be surprisingly elastic (causing a yo-yo effect). Also, select a bolt which will give you enough room to add a wing nut, which can then be tightened over the cord loop. The wing nut also makes it easier to tighten the bolt into the camera base socket.
