I just had my 6MP Digital Rebel (bought in Sept 2004)repaired in February 2008 by Canon and it cost me $195.00, plus shipping (US). This is Canon's set repair fee and they fix everything that is wrong with it - whether you tell them to or not. The problems I had were:

1. bent mirror arm (this prompted the repair)
2. built in flash was not popping up correctly since about 2006
3. compact flash card ejector button was broken since about 2006

I got it back about 3 weeks from the day I sent it to Canon. It works perfectly now!

Hey! Just listened to the show.
A few weeks ago I found a site that listed the average death of each canon. It went a little like this:
XTi - 50k
30D - 150k
40D - 150k
5D - 200k
1D Mk III - 300k-500k (don't really remember)
1Ds Mk III - 300k-500k (don't really remember)

Just thought I would throw in my bit of knowledge!
