It’s COMMUNITY time again. Chris is looking forward to the 10th (!) London Get-Together coming up this weekend. And organized by Kavey (BIG BIG THANKS, YOU ROCK!!). Also on today’s show: we’ll hear from someone who will travel to nepal because of Tips from the Top Floor, we’ll look at the life expectancy of camera shutters and we’ll find out why the people on cheryl’s pictures always have their heads cut off.

Hey! Just listened to the show.
A few weeks ago I found a site that listed the average death of each canon. It went a little like this:
XTi - 50k
30D - 150k
40D - 150k
5D - 200k
1D Mk III - 300k-500k (don’t really remember)
1Ds Mk III - 300k-500k (don’t really remember)
Just thought I would throw in my bit of knowledge!
I just had my 6MP Digital Rebel (bought in Sept 2004)repaired in February 2008 by Canon and it cost me $195.00, plus shipping (US). This is Canon’s set repair fee and they fix everything that is wrong with it - whether you tell them to or not. The problems I had were:
1. bent mirror arm (this prompted the repair)
2. built in flash was not popping up correctly since about 2006
3. compact flash card ejector button was broken since about 2006
I got it back about 3 weeks from the day I sent it to Canon. It works perfectly now!
My 1D MkII is at about 50K and still running (nearly four years old).
