Have a Canon 30d does the raw files that are generated contain information from the Picture Styles that I can set or does the Picture Styles information go only to jpeg files

The raw files will probably contain some information, but it is probably stored as binary data in a custom format. EXIF/IPTC information stored in the JPEG would likewise be binary in nature, coming out of the camera. :/ I wonder if importing it into a workflow program, like Lightroom or Aperture, then saving it in an open format, like DNG or OpenRAW will allow for the data to be saved in a generally readable format?
