Thanks for asking that question CC. Even with a pinch lens cap I was worried about scratching my Nikon lens. Its not always easy to rich inside the lens hood place the pinch lens cap alligned to the the rim perfectly.

As far as the lens caps for hoods, they can be found on ebay by typing "pinch lens cap" and many are made without company logos. Some online camera shops also carry covers that slip on over the entire hood. I think they are made of neoprene and simlar materials but I don’t remember the official name for them.
